United Martial Arts

Train Hard or Go Home!

Tong Hop Moo Sool

United Martial Arts is a Christian based Martial Arts School. Our unique style "Tong Hop Moo Sool" was originated by Mr. James Pierce, our Senior Instructor, from the five various arts he has studied for the past 27 years. Tong Hop Moo Sool, translated from Korean means "combination of the arts".

Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do is derived from several martial arts, with the main influence being tae-kwon - Korean kick fighting. Tae means "to kick" or "smash with the feet". Kwon means to "intercept" or "strike with the hands" and Do means "the way of the art".

Judo
Meaning "the gentle way", is regarded as a modern sport deriving from ju jitsu. It uses your opponents body weight and strength against themselves.

Shotokan
Both young and old, it is less than a hundred years old. It is characterized by it's low stances, powerful techniques, and dynamic forms.

Shorinryu
Street defense strategy combining forceful self defense, acceptance, and deflection elements of various martial arts.

Hapkido
A combination of joint locks and controlling techniques to place an opponent in a neutralizing posture.

We have a variety of classes each week right here in the Jacksonville area.

Each class consists of learning various forms, self defense techniques, fighting combinations, and ends with a devotion and prayer.

As each technique and Scripture lesson is practiced and learned, the student's skill is tested. Within each belt level, stripes are earned for techniques completed.

Once all the techniques and Scripture requirements are met, a final test for graduation to the next belt is conducted.
